Free golf swing analyzers: what's actually free
Updated
Most golf swing analyzer apps are free to download, then put some features behind a subscription. If you want something free with nothing to install, a browser-based tool like SwingMaster lets you slow down a swing video, draw lines on it and get AI feedback without an app or an account.
Below we compare SwingMaster with three popular apps that have a free tier, using what each one's own App Store page says. Prices and plans change, so every app entry links to its listing and shows the date we checked it.
Free, in your browser, no sign-up. Your video stays on your device; only the frame you pause on is sent for AI analysis.
How we compared them
We didn't score or rank the apps. Instead, for each one we looked at the questions that decide whether "free" actually works for you:
- What the free tier includes, and what the listing says needs a paid plan.
- App or browser. Does it need installing, and on which devices?
- Account. Can you use it without signing up?
- Where your video goes. Does it stay on your phone, or get uploaded?
The app details come from each app's US App Store listing, checked on 10 October 2026. Where a listing doesn't say something, we say so rather than guess.
SwingMaster (this site)
SwingMaster runs in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tablet or computer. There's no app to install and no account.
What it does:
- Plays your swing at 0.25x, 0.5x or full speed, with buttons to step one frame at a time.
- Lets you draw lines, circles and angles on the frame. The angle tool shows degrees.
- Zooms in on the video (on a laptop or desktop).
- Gives AI feedback on any paused frame: the swing phase, up to three strengths, up to two fixes and one drill.
- Includes two pro swings to compare against: a Rory McIlroy driver and a Tiger Woods iron.
Where your video goes: the video stays on your device. When you run an AI analysis, only that one paused frame is sent.
What it doesn't do:
- No 3D or skeletal tracking, and no sensor or launch monitor data.
- The AI reads a single still frame, so it can't judge tempo or the full motion.
- No synced side-by-side playback. On a laptop you can place clips next to each other and pause each one; on a phone you flip between clips.
- No account means no saved library of past swings.
- AI analysis is capped at 25 a day.
Try it now, no download. The step-by-step analysis guide shows which frames to check first.
V1 Golf
V1 Golf: Golf Swing Analyzer on the App Store, by Interactive Frontiers. Checked on 10 October 2026.
- Price: free to download, with in-app purchases.
- Paid plans listed: V1 Golf Plus at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, plus paid lessons and a coaching membership.
- Free extras: the listing offers new users a free QuickFix online coaching session.
- Features described: video swing analysis, ball tracing, skeletal tracking, a model swing library of tour players, and online coaching with real instructors. Sessions save to the cloud.
- Not stated on the listing: exactly which features are free and which need V1 Golf Plus, or whether an account is required.
Its strength is the link to human coaches. If you already work with a coach who uses V1, it's the obvious choice.
Swing Profile Golf Analyzer
Swing Profile Golf Analyzer on the App Store, by Swing Profile Limited. Checked on 10 October 2026.
- Price: free to download, with in-app purchases.
- Free plan, as listed: your 3 latest recordings, 5 Auto Replay sessions per hour and 5 voiceovers per month.
- Paid plans listed: Elite, which the listing says gives unlimited Auto Capture and Auto Replay, plus Coach and School plans.
- Features described: hands-free capture and playback of your swing with no sensor needed, ball flight tracing and drawing, and swing sequence photos. The listing says it can also run on Apple silicon Macs, though it is designed for iPad.
- Not stated on the listing: whether an account is required.
Hands-free capture is the main reason to pick it. You set the phone up at the range and it records each swing for you.
GolfFix AI Golf Swing Analyzer
GolfFix AI Golf Swing Analyzer on the App Store, by MOAIS. Checked on 10 October 2026.
- Price: free to download, with in-app purchases.
- Paid plan listed: the Advanced plan at $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year.
- Listed as premium features: advanced AI analysis, shot fix lessons, monthly reports, rhythm and tempo modes, unlimited swing log view, swing video sync, 60 FPS video support and no ads. The release notes say free users get an "Assistant Coach" and Advanced subscribers a "Head Coach".
- Account: the listing mentions a guest mode as well as sign-up with email, phone, Google or Apple.
GolfFix is built around AI analysis of the full swing, including tempo, which a single-frame tool can't measure.
When you need hardware instead
A phone camera shows you positions: posture, plane, where the club and body are at each point. It can't measure the numbers behind the ball flight.
If you want clubhead speed, face angle, path in degrees, spin or carry distance, you need a launch monitor. Wearable or club-mounted sensors are another option for tempo and body motion data. Both cost money, and both work best alongside video rather than instead of it.
Video is often enough to spot positional faults like over the top or early extension. Launch monitor numbers tell you what those faults are doing to the ball.
Which one to pick
You want a quick look at one swing today. Use a browser tool. Film on your phone's normal camera or slow-motion mode, open it in SwingMaster, and start drawing lines straight away. The slow-motion analysis guide covers getting the most out of the clip.
You practise at the range every week. An app with hands-free capture saves fiddling with your phone between shots. Swing Profile's free plan is worth trying first, keeping its recording limits in mind.
You work with a coach. Use whatever your coach uses. V1 Golf is built around remote lessons, so it suits that setup.
You want AI on the full motion, not one frame. GolfFix's listing describes tempo and swing analysis across the whole swing, with the deeper analysis on its paid plan.
Whichever you choose, the method is the same: film from a fixed camera, pause at key positions and compare against a reference line. You can also compare your swing with a pro's using the compare guide.
Test before you install anything
Not sure you need an app at all? Analyze one swing here first. Upload a clip, slow it to 0.25x, draw a line along your spine at address and see whether you keep it. Then pause on the top of your backswing and run Analyze Current Frame.
If that tells you what you needed to know, you're done. If you want hands-free recording, cloud storage or coaching, one of the apps above is the next step.
Questions golfers ask
Is there a free AI golf swing analyzer?
+
Yes. SwingMaster is free in your browser with no sign-up: pause any frame and get the swing phase, strengths, fixes and a drill, up to 25 analyses a day. Several apps also have free tiers with their deeper AI features on paid plans.
What is the best free golf swing analysis app?
+
It depends what you need. For a quick check with no install, a browser tool works. For hands-free recording at the range, Swing Profile has a free plan; for remote coaching, V1 Golf is built around it. Check each app's store page for its current free limits.
Can I analyze my golf swing without downloading an app?
+
Yes. Open SwingMaster in Safari or Chrome, upload a video from your camera roll, and you can slow it down, step frame by frame, draw lines and angles, and get AI feedback. Nothing to install and no account.
Is V1 Golf free?
+
It's free to download. On 10 October 2026 its US App Store listing showed in-app purchases including V1 Golf Plus at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, and offered new users a free QuickFix coaching session.
Are AI golf swing apps accurate?
+
They're useful as a second opinion, but accuracy depends on your video: camera angle, lighting and frame rate all matter. Check what the AI says against lines you draw yourself, and use a coach for anything it can't see, like ball flight.
